Neil Patrick Harris Wants $2.99 Million for Sherman Oaks Home

Neil Patrick Harris, the famous comedian who is best known for roles like "Dr. Doogie Howser" and "Barney Stinson", has reportedly listed his home in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood in Calif., for $2.99 million.

Harris purchased the home four years ago for $2.1 million. But now that he and his partner have moved with their twins to a brownstone in New York City, they are selling away the Valley home and trying to pocket some profit in the course.

Harris purchased the five-storey brownstone in Central Harlem, New York, for around $3.6 million in September last year. He had been looking for a place in the area since March 2013 and even went public with his home-hunt. Inquiring on twitter if anybody knew of a brownstone townhouse in the area, he tweeted:.

"Looking to buy a brownstone in Harlem. Figured someone on Twitter might wanna sell. Any takers?"

The Zillow Blog broke news of the Sherman Oaks home listing noting that Monty Iceman of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services California Properties is representing the house.

Property records reveal that the residence is a 4,191-square-feet single-family home that has six bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Interiors of the house feature floor-to-ceiling glass windows and dark hardwood flooring. The listing notes that the home was featured in InStyle magazine and on Oprah's "Next Chapter" as well.

Living space includes a formal drawing room, dining room, a modern kitchen and a family room. A maid's quarter and laundry is also available. The master suite has a humongous walk-in closet which could easily pass off for a separate dressing room of its own.

Outside, the home has a children play area, a pool with a spa and waterfall features, an outdoor shower area, a barbecue and lounging area as well. The house has a six-car parking garage too.

The listing describes the place as a "Renovated traditional East Coast gated celebrity compound in highly-coveted Sherman Oaks hills."

Open houses are scheduled for June 28 and 29. Check out photos of the home here.

Harris will soon be wrapping up his stint on the Broadway show "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." So what does he plan on doing later?

"Hopefully, some much needed rest. I'm ready for a little bit of downtime. After August, I'll be all up in waffles," the "Smurfs" actor told People magazine.

But Harris is not someone who can stay idle for long. In an interview with the Belfast telegraph, he said:

"I'm not designed to stay still. It's all about the next chapter."
