LeBron James made the headlines as it was reported that he signed a major deal with one of the biggest sports brand. Just this week, numerous websites reported that LeBron signed a lifetime deal with Nike.
As per the Celebrity Net Worth, LeBron's deal with the company is set to expire by 2019, but then they offered him a deal that would last a lifetime. Details in regards to his contract however aren't publicly announced yet.
His deal with Nike is said to be the largest single athlete deal" that Nike ever offered after being 40 years on the business. The news website then added that it is the first time Nike signed a lifetime deal with any athlete.
The company does have a lifetime deal with another NBA legend Michael Jordan, but this was because their brands are meshed together. Jordan will be earning $100 million royalties from Nike in 2015 alone.
A spokesman from Nike released a statement saying:
"We can confirm that we have agreed to a lifetime relationship with LeBron that provides significant value to our business, brand and shareholders. We have already built a strong LeBron business over the past 12 years, and we see the potential for this to continue to grow throughout his playing career and beyond."
During his practice, James then told reporters that:
"I'm very humble, man. It's been an unbelievable time for myself and my family, and I'm just grateful that Nike andPhil Knightand everyone over there just believed in a skinny-old, skinny 18-year-old kid from Akron, Ohio, and I'm happy to be a part of such a great company. It meant a lot to me even when I signed my first deal just to be with Nike, and it means even more that they've given me this. It's like I said, very humbling and grateful, and I'm going to continue to do my job and represent the brand the best way I can, like I know how. Hopefully, people see that."
Though this may be a huge deal, Forbes stated that it is still a bargain from Nike.
LeBron James net worth is estimated at $300 Million.
