TLC’s ‘Buying Naked’ Gives Insight into Nudist Lifestyles (VIDEO)

There are a slew of real estate reality shows on TV these days but TLC, the popular channel owned by Discovery Communications, is back with an "interesting" way to keep viewers entertained with their real estate reality series - "Buying Naked."

The title of the show maybe self-explanatory, but this reality series is more than just naked buying. The series shows experiences of home hunting and buying among nudists in the "Nudist Capital of North America," - Pasco County, Fla., and gives viewers more insight into the nudist style of living.

"Buying Naked" first aired in 2013, but it was short-lived. However, it is now back with some back-to-back episodes that introduce viewers to realtor Jackie Youngblood, who is keen on building a team of agents for the "clothing -optional" community. Youngblood happens to be a nudist herself but also caters to the "textiles" world.

In the first episode that aired Saturday, Alex, a young realtor with two years of experience in the "textiles (that's what clothed people are called in the nudist world)" community, was put to task at handling a "hands-on" couple with their home search.

Now, nudists look for some specific home features while home-hunting. Also, it is important that their way of life is respected.

"When we get into the actual real estate stuff, it's kind of focusing on the... things a nudist buyer would need, like having a bidet is very important and counter tops that are a certain height because [nudists wouldn't be] wearing any pants," Youngblood explains.

"You have to do research on the nudists and nudist communities and respect and be ethical. It is of the utmost importance that you respect [them]."

"You make eye contact. You don't stare. You don't giggle and of course nudists carry towels everywhere they go," she added.

According to Fox News, the nudist community was a little apprehensive of letting cameras into their private space because they thought it would show them in a bad light. However, the pilot episode seemed to have won them over.

"Luckily, after a lot of people saw the pilot- a lot of the nudists thought this was... very true and honest look into their community," Mike Kane, executive producer of the show told Fox News.

But if you thought you cannot watch the show with kids around, that's not the case. The cameras at TLC have cleverly used certain items like flower vases, lights and cocktail glasses to keep the exposure limited to bare end-shots.

"It's gone from just focusing on real estate, which we do in the first two and a half hours, to the subculture. People are going to tune in for the nudity first so then we're trying to hook them with the real estate angle and then the personal angle," Kane told RealScreen.com.

"It's got nothing to do with sex. It's about people living a very free lifestyle and when they realized we weren't trying to make a raunchy show, their trust level went up fairly quickly."

Speaking of Youngblood building a real estate team, Kane said:

"Jackie's team has a lot of potential for growth. She could expand that team and we could bring in new people. It makes for great television because as a viewer you're watching it wondering if you would respond the same way being in a nudist community for the first time."
