With the year coming to a close, people usually look to the influential TIME magazine to find out the person who has made such a huge impact on the news and on the world in general for the last 12 months.
While US President Barrack Obama or Pope Francis, leader of the Catholic faith, would have been likely candidates, TIME has included someone who is very controversial on its list: Caitlyn Jenner.
According to a report from Star, TIME has narrowed down its list of nominees for their 2015 Person of the Year. These are the people or group of people who they believe have made a huge influence in society and the world.
The editors of the prestigious publication has released information that they have 8 candidates so far: Donald Trump, Black Lives Matter activists, Angela Merkel, Travis Kalanick, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Vladimir Putin, Hassan Rouhani and Caitlyn Jenner.
Caitlyn has become one of the most popular transgender activists ever since her first interview with Diane Sawyer in April. This coming out "I Am A Woman" interview also signaled the start of the reality television star's own show with a title "I Am Cait." But even with her work with the transgender community, Caitlyn was not able to please everyone.
When she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show on September 8, Caitlyn revealed that she still finds it hard to support same-sex marriage, clearly revealing her view as a longtime conservative. After the interview, Ellen got really angry at Cait. A source revealed that "Ellen's blood was boiling, and they exchanged insults."
Ellen later guested on The Howard Stern Show saying, 'You're wanting people to understand and accept you-this is, like, really confusing to people. And you still have a judgment about gay people and marriage."
Star previously reported that not only Ellen who is not pleased with Caitlyn and members of the transgender community are also worried that the former athlete may not be really putting her all for the cause, but she may just be cashing in on it.
The ESPY's Arthur Ashe Award for Courage recipient is reported to be charging at least $100,000 per appearance for her scheduled motivational speaking engagement next year. It was also mentioned that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star's egocentric ways are also starting to distance the LGBT community.
"It's completely selfish to charge so much, she cares more about the money than about helping people," an insider commented.
