Netflix Premiers 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2' Trailer; Reveals Release Date

The movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" took the cinemas and had their audiences on the edge of their seats during its release 15 years ago. The movie received outstanding reviews from critics and everyone was looking forward for a sequel. For a decade and a half, producers have never really thought of creating the sequel in fear of failing to live up to the glory of the original film.

Online video-streaming giant, Netflix, takes the challenge and creates the sequel, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. Mashable says that the trailer greatly reflects the original film. Netflix have had huge success in the series category but this is the first time that they are committing to such a huge project. They have been trying to make a bid as a real movie company and not just a regular video streaming company.

Fans are disappointed to discover that some of the key pieces from the original film are not present in the sequel. Chow Yun-fat, original lead actor, is not part of the cast in the sequel and Ang Lee, director of the original, won't be directing the sequel. But a familiar face, Michelle Yeoh, is on the sequel to bring nostalgia to all the fans.

Once again, the plot rotates around the Green Destiny sword that could harm Yu Shy Lien, Michelle Yeoh's character, and her allies if it falls on the wrong hands.

The movie will be released on February 8, 2016 on cinemas and will be available on Netflix on the same release date.

Slash Film predicts that the sequel might not make it big in Netflix but it would be a hit outside the video-streaming site. Even amidst rumors that cinemas have been refusing to air the sequel on the big screens, terms have been agreed upon and led to its release in China and other countries on Feb. 26, 2016.
