A Brooklyn developer has taken marketing up a notch higher offering a triplex townhouse for $6 million and throwing in a free latest Tesla model free with the purchase.
The New York Magazine reports that Eitan Baron, developer of the eco-friendly Park Slope residence located at 709 Sackett Street, is offering a $75,000 worth Tesla Model S sedan - complete with a stereo system and glass roof, each costing $2,500 and $3,050 of the technology package including its garage that comes with its own charging function - to anyone who agrees to ink the deal for the home.
Baron said the car is a perfect match for the eco-friendly home, which was just completed to replace a 100-year-old motor car repair garage.
"It's like you dress up for the evening and put on a gold watch," Baron compared.
The garage was demolished and in its place stands a "greenstone" (an environment-friendly brownstone) that has a 3,200-square-feet 4-bed triplex and a 1,700-square-feet 4-bed penthouse atop the triplex.
Note that the Tesla comes with the Triplex and not with the penthouse.
The two homes share an inner courtyard. For now, only renderings are available. According to Curbed, the residences will hit the listing market in a couple of months with Town Residential.
Renderings show a brick façade with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and slider doors inside. The home boasts of an open floor plan and has hardwood flooring, drywall ceilings and wooden staircases.
Outdoor kitchen and lounging areas are available.
The homes' green features include "Marvin Energy Star windows; low-emission Energy Star tank-less water heater; zoned Energy Star HVAC system with 4-5 zones per unit, allows only the zones needed to be heated/cooled on; radiant heating; custom-designed, locally made kitchen"
Check out some renderings of the home here.
The "free car" marketing strategy isn't new to the market. Property Markets, a luxury apartment development firm is also offering free Tesla cars to sell three penthouse properties.
But has it worked before? Well, not at least with Christian Audigier, the French designer famous for his "Ed Hardy" label, who had earlier listed his Los Angeles home for $8.2 million and agreed to give away a Rolls-Royce Phantom 5.
The residence now asks $9.19 million and no, no car available this time. Check the property out here.
