Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' Sneak Peek: Film To Take Fans On A 'Mind-Trip'

Last Tuesday, fans were given the very first sneak peek into the most-awaited film, Doctor Strange. Marvel Studios released their Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two Box Set which includes a featurette where filmmakers promise that the film is unlike any other of Marvel's creations.

Director Scott Derrickson said, "What you can expect from this Doctor Strange movie is a mind-trip action film."

Additionally, Executive Producer Stephen Broussard also talked about how the film will need to keep one foot grounded on reality while exploring the full visual potential of Doctor Strange.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recognizes this challenge and pointed out, "How do you put that on a screen within this cinematic universe? That is one of the primary goals of that movie."

The film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch, will feature a character unfamiliar to most members of the audience. According to its official synopsis, Doctor Strange "follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimension."

Looking for an actor to play such complicated role wasn't much of a problem for the filmmakers. Their decision was certain. They all agreed on casting Cumberbatch to play Stephen Strange. "Benedict has got an incredibly complicated emotional structure going on," Derrickson explained.

On the film, Cumberbatch will be joined by actors Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdamas, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton.

Filming has already begun and Marvel Studios announced that it is being shot in several locations all over the world such as London, New York, Hong Kong, and Kathmandu, Nepal. It will be released on November 4, 2016.

Aside from giving a preview of Doctor Strange, the featurette recently released by Marvel Studios also promoted the Phase Three of their films which includes "Captain America: Civil War," "Black Panther" and a new "Spider Man" movie.
