App developers at "Human" envisaged the routes its users took to go walking, running, bicycling or traveling on a motor vehicle and created moving maps that look like the city is glowing.
The maps have been created using Amazon Web Services. The app's user activity was tracked and a GPS tool was used to plot the movements and routes they took. Each map shows the activity of the city in a 24-hour format with activity picking up during peak traffic hours and slowing down in the nights and early mornings.
Human also ranked the cities on the basis of activity. For instance:
Amsterdam topped in "bicycling activity"
Washington D.C. topped in "Walking activity."
Berlin won for "Running activity"
Los Angeles topped for "motorized transport activity."
Hong Kong looks the prettiest when it's traveling using transport.
While you can check all the cities and their rate of activity here, some still prints of the cities are available for sale. You can see the cities in action in a video below:
In June, the American College of Sports Medicine's latest annual American Fitness IndexTM (AFI) released a list of the healthiest cities of America. Did your city make it? Check it out here.
