‘The Real World: Philadelphia’ Building Can be Yours for $4.3 Million

Another television royalty has hit the market. The building featured in the Philadelphia chapter of the never-ending MTV reality series "The Real World" is up for grabs for $4.3 million.

Located at 249 - 253 Arch Street in Old City, the residence has a storied past before it became a TV staple. The building was previously home to Girard Corn Exchange Bank before it was chosen as the home for the participants of "The Real World." The building also served as an event space and a museum gallery and is currently owned by the Art Institute of Philadelphia.

The historic residence is being marketed by MSC retail, and Jacob Cooper and Michael Salove are representing the building.

Built in 1902, the house was entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The producers of "the Real World" put in about $3 million in furnishing and renovating the residence for the series' third season.

The three-storey building spans an area of 15,000 square feet. The official listing does not reveal the number of bedrooms and bathrooms because most of them have been demolished, an agent told Page Six.

Some photos of the gigantic neoclassical building are available, which show high ceilings and open space. The pictures are reminiscent of a museum gallery since it was being used as an exhibition space by TRUST - the event space.

"It's a very dramatic and iconic building in Old City," Cooper told Philly.com.

MSC Retail suggests that the property can be used as a residence or retail-commercial as well.

"It could be an office, a retail store, a restaurant; an event space with a fabulous catering hall. There are a lot of opportunities for a user or an investor," Cooper added.

Bonus Point: The room that served the purpose of the "Vault" when the bank occupied it was turned into the "confessional room" for the show, the space where participants would report the events of the past week.

There are several other celebrity residences on the market. A home used in the ABC show "Nashville" is up for sale at $2.1 million. Laura Palmer's "Twin Peaks" residence in Washington is also available for sale at $549,950. Another residence used to film the "Dallas" reboot is asking $3.75 million.
