U.S. Life Expectancy Remains Unchanged For Three Years, Top Three Causes of Death and Infant Mortality Follow

A research found that the expected number of years for a newborn is 79 years which remain unchanged for three successive years. This statistical data was accumulated by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on 2.6 million American with registered death in the country.

According to ABC News, people born in 2005 were expected to live for about 78 years, established by a new federal study.

A health scientist from National Center for Health Statistics, Donna Hoyert, claimed a good news that the upward result of life expectancy in the Unites States from 1955, wherein life expectancy was just 75.8 and as years go by, made an upward scale of 2.10 which results in 77.9 in 2005. And on the present time, rise up to age 79 and got fixed for three consecutive years now.

Geoba statistics showed that the life expectancy for women is 81.41 years and 76.46 for men.

On the other hand, heart disease, stroke and cancer were the leading causes of death in the Unites States. And as confirmed by Hoyert, mortality for Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease continued to increase.

The report said that the heart disease rate of 217/100,000 in 2004 is down with only 210.3/100,000 in 2005. Meanwhile, stroke rate has gone down from 50 deaths for every 100,000 in 2004 to 2005 having only 46.6 deaths. For cancer death rate, 2004 statistics showed that 185.8 deaths in every 1,000,000 people have dropped down to 183.8 in 2005.

"Whenever death rates from the three major killer diseases decline, the next question to ask is whether the additional survival time is healthy or unhealthy," told by S. Jay Olshansky, a professor and a Senior Research scientist from University of Illinois, Center of Aging.

"I look forward to the additional analyzes that reveal the answer to this question," added by Olshansky. Further that, he found this report as an "excellent news".

As a result, the infant mortality rate is 582.1 deaths in every 100,000 newborns. In line with this, the leading causes for infants remained the same with the overall cause of mortality in the United States.
