There is indeed a first time for everything as Netflix ousted HBO for the first time ever as the award season dawns.
HBO has always been the team to beat, until the Golden Globes nominations were announced Thursday.
The Entertainment Weekly reports that HBO was left behind by the streaming service with a total of ten nominations compared to the latter's eight. But wait, there's more. Another surprise was Amazon's five nominations and Hulu also making a major mark.
When it comes to award season, cable channels have always set the trend, specifically HBO, with its record-breaking "Game of Thrones" Emmy wins this year. Prior to the SAG nominations, however, Nextflix has been making noise particularly with its hit shows like "House of Cards" and "Orange Is The New Black."
Overall, while some nominations are highly expected, such as "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and "Master of None" of Netflix, some of the nominations were unexpected. For instance, on the comedy series, Amazon's "Mozart In The Jungle" and even Hulu's "Casual."
Is this the beginning of streaming services' supremacy?
