Golden State Warriors Shooting Guard Klay Thompson Might Miss Friday Game, Says Sprained Ankle is 70 Percent

The Golden State Warriors are without loss at 23-0, a record braking to start a season in NBA, but they also might play without the star shooter, Klay Thompson on Friday due to his sprained ankle.

Thompson suffered a nasty ankle injury while playing against the Indian Pacers Tuesday. He did not sound very optimistic about chances of playing against the Boston Celtics on Friday.

In an interview with the ESPN (via Sporting News), Thompson said, "It's not feeling great, but it's not feeling bad, it's like somewhere in between. It's like 60 percent - nah, 70. It's the team's call, and if it's not 100 percent Friday, I might have to sit out because we have such a quick turnaround. I want to finish the trip on a high note in Milwaukee."

He finished a season-high 39 points against the Indiana Pacers and has been recovering with the injury since. The X-rays result is good so his status will depend on how well he can move.

"He's obviously out there getting some shots up, shooting around, but it'll likely be a game-time decision (against Boston)," Golden State Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said. "If there's any concern at all that his ankle's hurt, then we're not going to play him."

Meanwhile, Shaun Livingstone personally apologized to Thompson for not playing hard and letting the starters play until the fourth quarter, a report from SF Gate says.

"That's frustrating," Livingston said. "I always take that to heart, because I'm one of the leaders of the second unit that is trying to put away leads. Especially when you have to put starters back in and a guy goes down. To me, that's on the second unit. I take that personal. The starters did their jobs. They should have rested that fourth quarter, and it's on us to hold down the fort."
