Underwater Hotel Received Patented Approval; Plans for First Luxury Underwater Lodging Revealed

The Planet Ocean Underwater Hotel has successfully gotten its patent and trademark approval, signaling them to push through with building this surreal boutique hotel. Currently, they are working on starting with construction, and continue on to test the feasibility of their plan.

According to Digital Trends, the hotel will contain 12 rooms which guests could rent for about $3k to $6k per night. The hotel will be built in about 28 feet under water, and they plan to bring guests into the hotel through a sealed elevator.

The entire hotel including the lounge will be airconditioned, according to sources. The rooms will have an area of sixteen by twelve feet, and will have the usual hotel amenities like a mini-fridge, shower, a king size bed. The highlight of course is the breathtaking view of the marine surroundings right from your very room, through its acrylic wall and ceiling panel.

Another ambitious feature of the hotel is that it will be mobile instead of being a fixed structure. Guests who will check in are ensured that they are safe from any inclement weather as this 'vessel' can use electromagnetic propulsion technology to move into another place.

The managing director of Planet Ocean, Tony Webb, shares the vision of their company, "I refer to it as inner space tourism and the new industry is now ready to launch into the ocean frontier. We will provide the protection, management, and expansion of the most fascinating hotels on the planet."

During its construction, Webb wants to include giving back to the community by coming up with ways to protect and restore the world's coral reefs. "The philanthropic goal is to give back to the planetary community through Biorock coral reef restoration of the world's endangered coral reefs," adds Webb.

There have been a number of inquiries on room reservations for this one of a kind boutique hotel, but the Florida-based Planet Ocean Underwater Hotel has yet to announce when they will open their underwater lodging.
