A group of ardent fans of "Twin Peaks"- the 1990 thriller-drama series - has reportedly launched a Kickstarter campaign to help convert the "Laura Palmer" home in Everett, Wash., into a bed & breakfast and a museum dedicated to the series.
Stephen Lange, a Seattle resident who is leading the group, is using the crowd funding platform to request people to pitch in money for the famous home, which is listed for $549,950.
Lange has set a goal of $600,000 and the campaign has garnered $10,213, with 152 backers until now.
Langer's campaign reads:
"When I read the quote, "I always hope a fan ends up buying it and turns at least one room into a museum or a shrine," I figured someone had to do it. Why not us? Adopting the model used by the Christmas Story house, we began to run with the idea that we could purchase "The Palmer House" and convert it into not only a shrine for the show, but also a Twin Peaks-themed event space, as well as a bed and breakfast."
Langer has also arranged for attractive rewards plans for people who pledge money for the campaign. Those who pledge more than $1,600 get an overnight weekday rental stay with 8 maximum guests. People pledging $10,000 and above are assured a lifetime membership to the "Palmer House" and a tour plus rental weekday per year.
The campaign, however, notes that if the home sells before the end of funding period of the Kickstarter campaign (Aug. 19), the amounts will not be deducted from the pledgers' accounts.
They are also apparently in talks with the city of Washington to declare the home as a historic landmark. They also say that if the talks don't work out, the fundraising campaign shall be cancelled.
