Leroy Schecter, the famous steel magnate who is also known for his real estate deals, just managed to find a buyer for his mega mansion in the wealthy area of Indian Creek, Fla., for $28 million.
The residence at 12 Indian Creek Dr sold to a "regular rich guy," representing agent Nelson Gonzalez told The Miami Herald, declining to identify the buyer. Nina Rudolph of Harding Realty represented the buyer in the transaction.
Schecter purchased the mansion in 2006 for $18.6 million. He poured in millions to renovate the house and he first put it for sale with a lofty $32 million price tag in 2008. Over the years, the home's price was changed several times.
In 2012, the price was upped to $45 million after a nearby home, now owned by hedge fund manager Edward S. Lampert, sold for a record-breaking $40 million. Later, another property down the street sold for $47 million and this apparently, drove Schecter to raise the price, according to The Wall Street Journal.
However, sitting unclaimed for about a year, the home's price was tentatively brought down to $35 million after several price ups and downs. Gonzalez told the Journal that the home sold "fairly quickly" once the price was chopped.
Gonzalez told the Journal earlier that Schecter was selling because he hardly uses it as he mostly lives in New York City. The steel mogul will reportedly donate all the proceeds from the sale to charity.
Indian Creek, a private island in Miami-Dade County, is a "U-shaped" land mass that has been dubbed "Miami's Billionaire Bunker" by Forbes.
According to the listing records, the residence is a 21,746-square-foot single family house, sitting on a prime 2-acre lot. The property has 200 feet of water frontage and also has access to a nearby golf-course.
The mega mansion was built in 2000. It has seven bedrooms and 14 bathrooms all done up in a mixed French and Mediterranean style. Interiors of the home feature stone-tiled, marble and carpeted flooring, high cathedral coffered and drywall ceilings along with large glass windows and wooden doors in arched hallways.
The home is stacked with luxury features like a billiards room, a wine tasting room, a gym, a library, a theater and an elevator that can ferry one to the upper level of the house. The master suite has separate "his and her" bathrooms and huge walk-in closets. The home also has several living areas, dining rooms and a modern French kitchen.
Outside, the home has rolling greens, a pool and a cabana house that has steam rooms and massage areas. The home also provides for a 7-car garage.

Schecter also has a condo in Central Park West, a combined unit that he once rented to New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. It was up for sale at $85 million last year, but has since been de-listed. Currently, it has been occupied as a rental asking $125,000 a month.
