Neil Patrick Harris Sells Sherman Oaks Home for $2.99 Million

Neil Patrick Harris, the "Smurfs" and "How I Met Your Mother" star, has reportedly sold his home for $2.99 million, the same price he listed it for in the end of June this year.

The home reportedly sold after a heated bidding war. Property records show that the house was put into escrow just eight days after Harris listed it and finally closed transaction July 22.

Harris purchased the home four years ago for $2.1 million. But now, he and his partner have moved with their twins to a brownstone in New York City. Harris purchased the five-storey brownstone in Central Harlem, New York, for around $3.6 million September, last year. He had been looking for a place in the area since March 2013 and even went public with his home-hunt.

TMZ first broke news of Harris' Sherman Oaks residence going under escrow and the Redfin Blog confirmed the sale.

Property records reveal that the residence is a 4,191-square-feet single-family home that has six bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Interiors of the house feature floor-to-ceiling glass windows and dark hardwood flooring. The listing notes that the home was featured in InStyle magazine and on Oprah's "Next Chapter" as well.

Living space includes a formal drawing room, dining room, a modern kitchen and a family room. A maid's quarter and laundry is also available. The master suite has a humongous walk-in closet which could easily pass off for a separate dressing room of its own.

Outside, the home has a children's play area, a pool with a spa and waterfall features, an outdoor shower area, a barbecue and lounging area as well. The house has a six-car parking garage too.

The listing describes the place as a "Renovated traditional East Coast gated celebrity compound in highly-coveted Sherman Oaks hills."

Harris will soon be wrapping up his stint on the Broadway show "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and he already has a job waiting for him. Hes will reportedly star in the Ryan Murphy series "American Horror Story." The star had apparently requested to be a part of the show because he was a big fan and Murphy was more than happy to oblige.
