After missing the recent Tokyo Game Show and amidst rumors that a home console and PC version is in the works, arcade game "Tekken 7" is adding a new character.
Surprisingly, it is a returning character from the previous "Tekken" lineup. According to Kotaku, it has added Akuma from Capcom's "Street Fighter" games. The Akuma's arrival to the hit arcade game was announced at the end of the recently concluded 2015 King of Iron Fist Tekken 7 Tournament organized by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
Moreover, Akuma will be introduced to "Tekken 7" via the upcoming "Tekken 7 Fated Retribution" arcade update. The same update will then bring other new characters, costumes, game tweaks and improvements.
In another news, Akuma is known as Gouki in Japan. According to IGN, Akuma is featured in the newly released trailer with his trademark "Ten" kanji. And speaking of this trailer, Heihachi Mishima's wife Kazumi is being featured asking a shadowy feature to kill Heihachi if she dies trying to stop Heihachi. It turns out that shadowy figure is Akumi saying (as dubbed), "As you wish, when the time comes, I will repay my debt to you." Then towards the end, the trailer shows an assortment of Akuma's signature moves.
As previously reported, Bandai Director Katsuhiro Harada was expected to make an announcement of the game's formal launch for PS4 and Xbox One at the Tokyo Game Show. Unfortunately, "Tekken 7" was MIA in the said event. According to IGN, based on the last update from Harada a Tekken and Street Fighter crossover game was "pretty far into development." To date, there are no further details of the said game however, adding Akuma, who is known to be a long-time antagonist in the "Street Fighter" series reportedly is a step into the whole crossover game idea.
For now "Tekken 7" is only available in Japanese arcades.
