NBA Rumors: Chicago Bulls to Trade Noah in Preparation for a Postseason Run

Before the start of the season, fans and some experts alike believed that the Chicago Bulls would be a contender this season. Along with their deep veteran frontcourt players, the Bulls expected to compete for the Eastern title and even the NBA title. However, with a poor and inconsistent start and below average performances this season, expectations seemed to be turning into sour reality. The Bulls is on a 2 losing streak right now, far from the imagined contender of the Eastern conference.

In line with this mediocre performance of the Bulls is widespread rumor of a possible major change in the roster. The most notable player being dragged into the rumor mill is the Bulls veteran center player Joakim Noah. According to some reports, with Noah's declining game the Bulls could actually trade him for some players who can boost their postseason run. Steve Kyler of basketball insider stated that;

"A number of league sources point to Noah's looming free agency as well as his declining role and production as key reasons the Bulls may not only gauge Noah's value, but might make him the player the team looks to cash in to bolster a postseason run."

Trading Noah could either make or break the team, especially that there are some rumors that Pau Gasol is also considering some of his option come free agency period. Thus trading the big man could be a risky thing to do. Basketball Insider added that;

"Talking about Noah as a trade candidate is a touchy thing, because Noah is arguably the locker room leader and one of the more emotionally invested players on the roster. Moving Noah is not viewed by the Bulls as ideal, but there are realities that Noah may no longer be in the Bulls' long-term future and Noah does have trade value around the league."

If indeed the Bulls would take risk with Noah, then they should be doing such thing sooner. Noah is not getting younger and his trade value would likewise decline as father time would soon catch up with him. And for the Bulls, they still have Bobby Portis to develop and play with the coming seasons.
