A new report about the rumored iPhone 6c has surfaced on Monday, saying that Apple's new smartphone is expected to arrive in selected retail stores. It was said that the upcoming smartphone will be sold for $500 or less, which is significantly cheaper when compared to the latest iPhone product lines, a report from iDigital Times said.
According to the report, if the rumor is true, then the iPhone 6c is expected to be the most affordable smartphone among the iPhone product lines. Digital Trends reports that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the Cupertino-based company is planning to launch a 4-inch iPhone known as the iPhone 6c. Kuo speculated that the new rumored iPhone is expected to arrive in early 2016.
"Kuo believes that Apple wants to meet its customers' demand for a smaller iPhone, adding that the company could sell 20 million units over the course of a year. The analyst predicted that production will kick off in the first quarter of 2016, and the iPhone 6C will launch early on in the year. In keeping with Apple's traditionally high prices, the mid-range 4-inch iPhone could be priced between $400 and $500 in the United States. Although the price point isn't too far away from the iPhone 6S's hefty price tag, Kuo's prediction would be in line with iPhone 5C pricing," the report noted.
However, some tech analysts disagree with KGI Securities' prediction about the iPhone 6c. For his part, Timothy Arcuri, a tech analyst from Cown & Company, claims that Apple will unlikely release an iPhone 6c, as the company's iPhone 6 is already raking a huge amount of profits.
"I think one of the reasons (Apple reportedly cancelled an iPhone 6C) is because the iPhone 6 has sold so well. And they said, 'Look, why would we want to cannibalize? If we came out with an iPhone 6C, we would essentially cannibalize a price-reduced iPhone 6," Arcuri said, as quoted in iDigital Times.
