‘5SOS’ News: Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood Talked About how Ashton Irwin Joined the Band

The boys of "5 Seconds of Summer" Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Calum Hood, and Michael Clifford recalled how they started and mentioned about their discovery of Ashton Irwin.

Unreality TV details the history of the 5SOS band in the recent show of James Corden's "Late Late Show" where the Brit talk show host asked the "5 Seconds of Summer" band members on how the band started.

Corden tried to confirm with the 5SOS boys if Irwin, the drummer of the band, was indeed discovered from Facebook.

"Luke, Michael and Calum, you all met and formed the band...But then you found Ashton on Facebook?" Corden inquired according to the outlet.

Calum Hood, the bassist of 5SOS said, "Basically, it wasn't a band; it was just kind of like a trio, we did covers on YouTube... And then we booked a gig, and we said to ourselves, 'We'll probably need a drummer'."

The 21-year-old drummer recalled the event where Michael Clifford asked him to join "5 Seconds of Summer."

"Michael messaged me at 2am... 'What you doin'?' Irwin said.

"Just wondering if you wanted to come hang out sometime and play a show with my band but mainly hang out..." the 21-year-old 5SOS drummer added.

Ashton Irwin joined the rest of the members of "5 Seconds of Summer" in 2011. The band's initial debut to the popular scene is when they played as an opening act to "One Direction" 2014 concert tour "Where We Are." Popularly, the band became known also for their pop rock sounds "She Looks So Perfect," "Jet Black Heart" and "Amnesia."

Recently, 5SOS thanked the boys of "One Direction" and messaged them in their last stint in "X Factor UK." Unreality TV details 5SOS' message to 1D and the boys said, "Thank you for everything you have done for us and the opportunity you have given us. Love you guys!"
