Mischa Barton’s Beverly Hills Home Going Under Foreclosure?

Mischa Barton, the "Orange County" actress, is reportedly in danger of losing her opulent Beverly Hills mansion as she is $100,000 due on her mortgage payment, according to several tabloids.

People Magazine reports that the lenders have put the home under foreclosure after the 28-year-old failed to pay nearly five months worth of her mortgage.

Barton purchased the home for $6.4 million in 2005, a time when "Orange County" was all that rage. According to TMZ, she took a loan of $4.5 million to fund the purchase. However, of late she has been struggling to pay off the mortgage.

Barton tried selling the home several times to cover the costs. Public records show that the residence was first offered for sale in 2010 for $8.7 million and de-listed again to re-appear in January 2011. It was taken off in June that year.

The home was then offered for rent at $30,000 a month and was raised by $5,000 in February 2013. In October that year, the house was listed again at $8.6 million and de-listed in July this year.

The home in question here is located in a prime area of Beverly Hills.

The villa sits on a 1.2 acre lot and claims around 9,800-square-footage of living space. The main unit is an ivy-wrapped Mediterranean-style home, comprising of eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.

The place has a gourmet kitchen with a dine-in breakfast bar. Three separate guest houses, a spa and an outdoor swimming pool are part of the property. A large green yard and multiple terraces offer the best views of the beautiful canyons.

Mischa Barton started-off her career as a stage actor. She catapulted to fame with her stint in the teen drama series "The O.C". She went on to perform with legendary onscreen icons like Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts in Notting Hill. Entertainment Weekly named her "The It girl" of 2003. She was also ranked #52 on FHM's "100 Most Sexiest Women in the World 2005" list.

Barton's career plummeted after she left "O.C." In 2007, she was arrested for Driving Under Influence and was ordered a stint in rehab by the court. Her mother reportedly hired a sobriety coach, but Barton was slammed with a lawsuit for not paying their fee of around $90,000. In 2009, Barton was admitted to a psych ward after she had a mental break-down.

But the "Sixth Sense" actress has been sober and stable for some time now. She has a few roles in small movies and is also embarking on a new jewelry line. She already has a boutique in London called "Mischa's Place."
