Charlie Puth is still starting off, but he sure is on fire.
The 'Marvin Gaye' singer has just released a stripped-down, piano version of one of his chart-topping songs "One Call Away," and he calls it a "Piana-Pella." The young song-writer is seen playing the song in a solemn environment seated with just a grand piano in front of him, minus all the extra instruments.
Puth tells Billboard about the project. “A piana-pella is all of the melody and chords that make up the record, but without vocals. Every song I write starts out on the piano, so it's always interesting to go back to the roots of the song after it's been produced out.”
He also mentioned that the video was not intended for those people who doesn’t believe that he can play the piano. “I'm more concerned with people thinking that I don't really play the piano. This wasn't meant to be an ‘I told you so’ kind of video, but simply to show that I can wear two hats and don't always have to be behind the mic to evoke a musical feeling.”

Meanwhile, Puth just recently been nominated for the first time for both Grammy and a Golden Globe for his song “See You Again” with Wiz Khalifa that was used in the movie “Furious 7” as a tribute to actor Paul Walker who died in a car accident before finishing the movie. The song earned three Grammy nominations including Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media. The song also got nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. His priceless reaction was recorded in a video and was reported by Entertainment Tonight.
The singer recently shared a snippet of a song that he and Selena Gomez worked on on his Instagram. It’s still not clear if the song will be included in his album “Nine Track Mind” which will be released on Jan. 29. We just have to wait and find out.
