'Outlander' Season 2 Cast & Spoilers: Scottish Actor Richard Rankin Joins Cast As Roger Wakefield

"Outlander" Season 2 spoilers tease that the show it set to welcome a new cast for the upcoming sophomore season. Scottish actor, Richard Rankin is has been cast to play the role of Roger Wakefield.

According to TV Line, Rankin will play the adult version of Rev. Wakefield's adopted son. The show's viewers and fans already met him during season one.

Rankin's character is described as "intelligent, kind hearted and charming." Roger was raised by Rev. Wakefield after his biological parents died during World War II. And when the time comes that everyone will meet Roger, he is already a professor in Oxford with a keen interest in history.

Rankin's is famously known for his work on "The Crimson Field" and "Burnt." The Futon Critic said that Rankin is already becoming one of the familiar faces in global television after he got good exposure in hit Hollywood movies that he was part of.

Rankin is already looking forward to be part of "Outlander" and he took to Twitter to express his excitement. Rankin wrote: "Hugely excited to be joining the @Outlander_Starz family. An amazing production filled with truly wonderful people and the best fans around!"

According to Entertainment Weekly, Rankin will join fellow season 2 newcomers Lionel Lingelser as King Louis XV, Margaux Chatelie as Annalise de Marillac, Rosie Day as Mary Hawkins, Dominique Piñon as Master Raymond, Stanley Weber as Le Comte St. Germain, and Robert Cavanagh as Jared.

With its present lead stars and its upcoming new cast members, "Outlander" Season 2 aims to top the first season. The first season of "Outlander" earned three Golden Globes nominations, namely, Best Drama, Best Actress for Caitriona Balfe, and Best Supporting Actor for Tobias Menzies.

It has been reported that Season 2 is set to start when Claire and Jamie will go to France. They will try to prevent the Jacobite rebellion, lead by Prince Charles Stuart and at the same time stop the battle of Culloden. As Jamie and Claire try to change the course of history they will be able to encounter challenges that will test their relationship.

Carter Matt reported that the second season of "Outlander" will premiere on Starz in spring.
