The Aerodrome Announces World's First Commercial Droneport

A recent study has shown that since it has become popular in 2013, drones have had near run-ins with manned aircrafts. This is probably why The Aerodrome has built a port specifically for drones.

During the International Drone Expo, The Aerodrome, together with the City of Boulder City,  has presented the  world's first commercial droneport, which will serve Unmanned Air Systems or UAS. The facility located in Boulder City, NV has been granted approval from the Dederal Aviation Administration, and is now operational.

Aside from serving as a place where the drones can land, the droneport is also a teaching facility for those who want to fly unmanned aircrafts. Aerodrome's President Jonathan Daniels has expressed that there is a need to educate owners of drones. He states, "Unmanned air systems are inherently different from manned aircraft and require a whole new type of expertise in order to be executed safely."

The Eldorado Droneport is a 50-acre land is privately owned but is open to the public. Among its services are training for UAS, FAA repairman and pilot certification. The team behind the project is also involved in doing research and development on unmanned aircrafts. It will also cater to those who own drones for recreation purposes which would include drone racing courses. Currently, Aerodome is providing training programs through E-learning.

According to Digital Trends, the facility will use its own solar power, as Aerodrome is environmentally conscious.

This is a world's first, making the U.S the pioneer for Unmanned Air Systems, so both the Aerodrome and the City of Boulder City have prepared themselves for global expectations as well as opportunities.  They recognize that this groundbreaking project could generate more jobs and business especially for the aviation industry. Daniel adds, "There are currently over 2,500 companies in the U.S. with FAA 333 exemption to fly commercial drones, and only one place in the world where they now take priority over manned aircraft. This droneport is the model for the rest of the country, if not the world."
