The penthouse of Tommy Hilfiger, the fashion mogul, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City has reportedly been relisted but this time with a fresh crop of interior photos.
Hilfiger put together the duplex condo after purchasing three separate units for a total of $25 million in 2008. He spent another $17 million on renovating the place, which took about three years.
"I wanted to bring back the original vision of The Plaza to what it was during Truman Capote's Black and White Ball ... that old-world charm, with the original detail and glamour," Hilfiger said in an interview with AOL real estate.
After the renovation, it was listed briefly for $50 million but was taken off the market soon. It was then re-listed in October last year for $80 million, the most expensive asking of the building. At that time, the couple's exclusive broker told the New York Times that Hilfiger and his wife were selling the place to spend more time in their 22-acre Greenwich property.
While it still sports the lofty price tag, this time the listing has come back with better, bad-ass photos.
According to the listing records at Streeteasy, the penthouse covers the 18th and 19th floors of the building - spanning a total area of 6,000 square feet. The residence has four bedrooms, four full and one half bathrooms.
Floor plans of the house show the entry opens into a loggia that leads up to the family room straight ahead. An eat-in kitchen sits right next to the family room. To the left of the loggia is an office that can be accessed through the family room.
To the right of the loggia is a gallery that opens into an alcove leading to the upper floor through a staircase. The upper level has a great room, a dining area with access to the plaza dome and a reading nook and wet bar too.
Building amenities include 24/7 doorman services, parking garage, gym and elevator services as well.
Sometime back in January, The Sahara India Pariwar, bought 75 percent stake in the Plaza Hotel owned by Kingdom Holding, a retail group headed by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia, for $575 million. The group signed the deal in November 2012.
Christian Candy, the famous property man who developed One Hyde Park - the most expensive apartment building of London -also had his penthouse in the building listed for $59 million.
