'The Big Short' Gets Positive Reviews; Viewers Say It's a Fun Financial Crisis Movie to Watch

Perhaps you can describe the 2008 financial crisis as a gloomy event that happened in the history of the world, where people lose their jobs, companies go bankrupt and economy collapsing. In real life, people who use to work for high end financial industries are thought to live boring and complex lives. It's perhaps due to the nature of their work where stress is high.

Most movies that portray the financial crisis are usually thriller films and contains serious topics and dialogs just like WallStreet - Money Never Sleeps (2010) and Margin Call (2011). The documentary movie "Inside Job" which received an Oscar award in 2011 is also a heavy drama film.

The Big Short infuses humor into their dialogs regarding financial markets and events that triggered the collapsing of the world's largest economy. The film is based on a book by Adam Lewis. It's is a story about the investors who speculated the collapse of housing bubble and they tried to profit from it.

The movie is directed by Adam McKay. It has an all-star cast of characters which includes: Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell, Christian Bale and Brad Pitt, Bloomberg reports. Appearances from other celebrities like Anthony Bourdain at one point in the film is also an interesting take in the movie.

Although the movie is set to expand in theaters nationwide on Dec. 23, The Big Short has already had four nominations on Golden Globes. The reviews made of them was that the movie is entertaining, funny and touching even at the subject of being dark.

This is a good film to watch as it also gives its audience some education regarding the market that is considered to be the liquidity of the economy, and how it affects their lives even though they are not directly invested in it.
