'Fable Legends' For PC and Xbox One, Open Beta Not Happening Until Spring 2016

Open beta for highly anticipated games being pushed back is not entirely new in the gaming industry although they don't happen too often. As for the open beta of "Fable Legends," the schedule has been pushed back to early next year.

According to Polygon, Developer Lionhead Studios has announced that the open beta of "Fable Legends" is not happening until Spring of 2016. The upcoming title from Lionhead Studios, which is a co-operative RPG for PC and Xbox one, was originally slated for release during the holidays of 2015. However, the developer wanted to receive more community feedback thus Lionhead Studios is extending the close beta, that has been ongoing since 2014. This in turn is the reason why the open beta will be delayed.

According to Games Radar, with the closed beta being extended and to make up for delaying the open beta, Lionhead wants to have more participants. This is a great opportunity for those who were not able to participate in either beta earlier. The developer will be sending out invites to 100,000 more participants for the open beta that will happen in Spring 2016.

"Fable Legends" was first announced in 2013. While the title will only be exclusive to Microsoft Windows and Xbox One, it will be cross playable between the two platforms. Moreover it will be free-to-play but there will be in-game purchases for aesthetic purposes.

The announcement, as written in the game's official website, wrote, "To be honest, we didn't anticipate just how big Fable Legends is becoming. It's simply the most ambitious game we've ever created at Lionhead. We've built a unique and innovative multiplayer experience combining RPG and RTS gameplay which allows you to play, and use your gear seamlessly, across Xbox One and Windows 10. On top of this, we've built a beautiful new world full of grand stories and adventures. And it's taking more time than we thought."

For now there is no word regarding the official release date for "Fable Legends."
