"I like it when somebody gets excited about something. It's nice." - J.D Salinger "Catcher in the Rye".
For all you Salinger fans out there, this is your chance to get excited! A Cornish, N.H., home that Salinger once resided in is up for sale for just $679,000.
According to the Zillow Blog, Salinger lived in the house after he separated from his first wife in the 1950s.
The current owner of the home bought it in the 1980s and this is the first time it's being offered since then.
Listing records of the home state that the residence is a 2,900-square-foot single-family residence, comprising of four bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Beautifully renovated over the years, the residence has hardwood flooring, French doors and windows, and high drywall ceilings.
Living spaces include a formal living room, dining area, several recreations spaces, reading nooks and a library.
There is a modern eat-in kitchen as well.
Surrounded by greens, the home offers ample privacy and panoramic views of Mt. Ascutney.
But his former abode is not the only thing to hit the market of late. Three stories - "The Young Folks", "Go See Eddie" and "Once a Week Won't Kill You" - that a young Salinger penned down during the 40s recently went up for sale.
A recent biography on Salinger claimed that five posthumous books by the author will be published between 2015 and 2020. In fact, Salinger is known for his special filing system. He wrote many books and features and embargoed them until a certain period after his death.
In an interview with NPR.com in 2000, Margaret Salinger said:
"I do know he's been working all these years because, probably the second time I'd ever been allowed in his study, he very proudly showed me a set of files, where a red dot meant this is ready to go upon my death, a green dot meant this needs editing, but it's okay. It just needs some editing."
