Alex Rodriguez, the New York Yankees third baseman, has reportedly purchased "Julie and Julia" actress Meryl Streep's Hollywood Hills house for $4.8 million.
Streep first listed the home late in April, this year, with a $6.7 million price tag. Finding no takers for the house, the home was given two pricechoppers in May within a fortnight. It last listed for $5.25 million.
According to Page Six, the Yankees Slugger - who Streep is a great fan of - managed to snag the residence for a steeper discount. The house was being sold fully furnished.
In May 2013, there were rumors of Streep purchasing the house through a trust. The trust paid $4.5 million for the home. However, it was unclear if she or her son Henry Wolfe was the buyer. It was later reported that the "Iron Lady" actress eventually moved into the plush pad.
But who could resist such a beautifully-designed home.
The place is a multiple-level home spanning an area of 3,700 square feet. Comprised of four bedrooms and four bathrooms, the modern home sits on a 0.36-acre lot.
Living spaces include a drawing room, multiple family rooms and a casual dining area. The home has a modern kitchen, an office/ study and huge bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
Outside, the residence has a large yard, a swimming pool and a sunken spa. The place also has ample parking area.
The listing described the place as, "Located on the most desirable street above Sunset Plaza, this modern, state-of-the-art estate features exquisite quality of fixtures and furnishings."

Usually, Streep keeps her personal life quite private. However, her real estate history has been chronicled by many fans. You can check out a video here on the history of her home sales and purchases (until 2010).
But, unlike the academy-award-winning actress, A-Rod's personal life has been media fodder. Infamous for his womanizing ways and use of performance enhancers in his games, Rodriguez could easily be called the poster-child of bad-boy-athletes.
More recently, it was reported that the scandal-scarred player was contemplating a move back into the prestigious 15 Central Park West Building, where he once rented a unit for $30,000 a month. However, the management of the residential tower banned him from renting or even buying a unit in the building because of the controversies he caused while he lived there.
