The little patients at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles received an extra special treat this week from none other than the cast of Star Wars!
This amazing galactic visit was headed by Mark Hamill a.k.a. Luke Skywalker as part of the Star Wars Force for Change initiative -- a program that uses the Star Wars franchise to raise awareness for various charities all around the world, a report from E! Online said.
And Luke was not alone; he was with his buddy R2-D2 and Darth Vader and a group of Stormtroopers to bring happiness and fun to the sick kids at the center.
The children were thrilled! They interacted with the characters and played with toys given by the group. One popular toy was the light saber which kids loved to play around with. The young patients also loved to touch and interact with R2-D2; one kid even hugged the robot as it flashed colorful lights and cool sounds.
Mark Hamill had a really great time playing with the patients and even posed for some pictures taken with the kids. He took to social media his gratitude to the children of the Los Angeles hospital, "Thank YOU Children's Hospital Los Angeles! Feeling the pure joy and exuberance of those children up close and personal is a gift to cherish." This he posted on his Facebook page.
The group is headed to seven more hospitals around the country. The Star Wars Force for Change Initiative wants children to have a chance to meet and interact with their favorite heroes from the film and of course it promotes healing with the use of creative inspiration and collaborative innovation, the E! Online report also said.
And of course, The Star Wars Force for Change Initiative is also partly to promote the release of the newest saga in the Star Wars franchise: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" which will be shown on December 18, Friday.
