A new report about "Persona 5" has surfaced on Wednesday, saying that the game will be released in 2016. The news comes after the game's director Katsura Hashino shared some essential details about the game's story and themes, a report from Design & Trend said.
"For one thing, 'Persona 5's' player agency is far different from the previous titles. Unlike the past games, the protagonist and his group of teenage pals don't start their journey from a place where they need to take advantage of their personas to survive. Instead, they merely feel alienated from the current world. When they can unleash their personas in a place called the Palace, it's perceived as liberation from the society that's silenced them," the report said.
In an exclusive interview with Game Informer, Hashino discussed the several issues that that the cast will experience in "Persona 5."
"Each of the characters, including the protagonist, has the mindset that - for one reason or another - they no longer have a place where they belong in society. So when they get a hold of the Isekai-Navi which allows them to enter another world and steal the malicious intent from others' hearts, they find new kinship and a sense of belonging in becoming these 'phantom thieves,' and throw themselves headlong into helping others and reforming society with their own hands. The ones that stand in their way are the adults - in other words, the traditional authority figures who dictate every aspect of these teenagers' lives," he said.
He also shared some details about the protagonist's relationship with Morgana. "Morgana is pursuing a certain objective, and sees the protagonist's awakened power of Persona in a pragmatic light - a useful tool to help achieve their goal. Thus, Morgana always remains close to the protagonist and advises him on his actions. We can't go into any more detail right now, but the relationship between the protagonist and Morgana is much closer than others you've seen in previous titles," he continued.
"Persona 5" is slated to be released in 2016 on PS4 and PS3.
