Lifetime's latest reality dating show, "UnReal" was just renewed for season 2. And it has been reported that the sophomore season definitely got an edge with "The Bachelor."
Carter Matt reported that in most parts such as production and behind the scenes stuff, "UnReal" was able to take a notch with "The Bachelor." And when it comes to drama, they were still even to make in on top that ABC's show. During the production of "Everlasting" with Adam Cromwell as the lead, someone died, and so it was dramatic and tragic.
TV Line also reported that in the upcoming season 2 of "UnReal," Lifetime drama series will cast new regulars for the show. Aside from that, it has been said that "the series-within-a-series" is going somewhere that ABC's "The Bachelor" is scared to try and that is, the show will have an African-American bachelor.
Reportedly, the show is looking for someone who will play as their new lead, Darius Hills, a mid-20s Dallas Cowboy quarterback. He is ought to be very sweet, athletic by nature and a bit sheltered. He must also be someone who is a huge crowd pleaser, to win both America and the ladies hearts.
For the ladies who will try to win Darius's heart, there is Tiffany who is rich, smart, hot and attractive blonde and is passionate in football. Her father owns an NFL team. But there is a catch, she is "sexually closed-off" from men.
And there is Ruby who is African-American with strong athletic build. She is a typical African-American woman who tries so hard to buck what the producers want her to be. Another African-American woman with a southern charm is Chantal. But she is a control freak.
From Alabama is Bethann who is set to bring more drama in the show. She even showed up in the Everlasting house wearing a Confederate flag bikini to show off her "southern pride."
And lastly, there is Yael who is an "upscale hipster" political blogger who looks a lot like series lead, Shiri Appleby. This will earn her the nickname of "Hot Rachel," which means she will drive Rachel crazy because she is her "hotter" version.
It was back in July that E! Online reported that "UnReal" was renewed for season 2. Lifetime's Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, Liz Gateley said, "We couldn't be more proud to bring back UnREAL."
Gateley added, "With authentically flawed characters, sharp storytelling and impeccable performances, this show is propelling our brand in a truly exciting direction - an unexpected and bolder Lifetime."
While Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, the show's co-creator revealed that for the sophomore season, there is still a big possibility that they will stick with "Everlasting" format. "We'd have to refresh and we'd probably put a twist on it," said Shapiro.
"UnReal" Season 2 premiere date is yet to be announced.
