'Dragon Quest 11' News, Updates: Square Enix Reveals Release in Japan, To Host 30th Anniversary Event in January

"Dragon Quest 11" is set for release next year in Japan as announced by Square Enix. Meanwhile, they will be holding the 30th anniversary event of Dragon Quest on Jan. 13, 2016.

Square Enix announced that "Dragon Quest 11" may probably be released not later than May 2017 but they refuse to release said game in Europe and North America unless other games will have an increased sales in those areas.

"Dragon Quest" is successful in the east as it is one of the most famous JRPG series in Japan. With that, Square Enix will focus in their home country and currently doesn't have plans of extending the game to the western countries.

The game's PS4 version is using "Unreal Engine 4" since it is the goal of Square Enix to "leverage the series’ classic visuals with a modern game engine." Meanwhile, 3DS version will feature a 3D and 2D split across dual screens but it will not be seen in the entire game, Forbes reported.

The Dragon Quest's 30th Anniversary Project Presentation will be live streaming in the website NicoNico on January 13, at 14:00 JST (1/12 at 9:00 p.m. PT/ 12:00 a.m. ET), My Nintendo News reported.

Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii and 30th anniversary project supervising producer Ryutaro Ichimura will be attending the event. In the said presentation, details about the "Dragon Quest" titles for release next year will be revealed, Gematsu reported.

In the same report, titles in development and their release dates is revealed which includes "Dragon Quest Builders" (PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita) for release on January 28, "Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3" (3DS) on March 24, "Dragon Quest Heroes II" (PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita) on Spring 2016 and "Dragon Quest 11" (PlayStation 4, 3DS) is aimed to be released on 2016.

"Dragon Quest XI" will be out on both PS4 and 3DS and it is also rumored that there will be a release on Nintendo’s upcoming NX console.
