'DOTA 2' Patch 6.86 Out Now: Leaked Patch Notes Fake, New Hero Arrives, Map Changes, New Items, Hero Changes and More

The much-awaited "DOTA 2" Patch 6.86 is finally here and the patch notes from the official "DOTA "2 website pushes all rumors into the Rosh pit for Roshan to destroy once and for all.

In the days leading to the release of "DOTA 2" patch 6.86, many assumptions have emerged from here and there, with some appearing to be legit. As previously reported, the said patch was assumed to not include an additional hero but rather bring changes to heroes Windranger, Tusk, Mirana and Crystal Maiden. There were also assumptions that major changes will happen in the Radiant jungle.

Later on, reports have emerge to suggest that the Cheese will have an increase in sale value from 500-1000, Dust of Appearance to deal 25 magic damage and Roshan's respawn interval to increase from 8-11 minutes to 9-15 minutes. Former "DOTA 2" Patch Analyst Matthew "Cyborgmatt" Bailey believed the leaked patch notes were fake and he was right.

The official details of patch 6.86 from Valve came out today. The patch indeed brought massive changes but neither the Cheese, Dust of Appearance or Roshan's respawn time were mentioned or changed, though, the leaked notes were right about Oracle and Earth Spirit because Valve has just made those two heroes available on Captain's Mode.

Furthermore, the leaks said that there won't be a new hero but according to the official patch notes, a new hero called Arc Warden has just been added. The Arc Warden is a ranged carry with agility as its attribute and armed with abilities Flux, Magnetic Field, Spark Wraith and Tempest Double.

There were many changes implemented to the "DOTA 2" heroes. The previous teaser released by Valve that featured Doom, Death Prophet Faceless Void, Lone Druid and Riki has been explained in the patch notes. Those heroes have been "buffed" or given new abilities but they have been temporarily removed from Captain's mode. Moreover, patch 6.86 did bring changes to heroes but the actual tweaks were nowhere near those mentioned in the leaks or "fake" patch notes.

Nevertheless in general, the massive patch introduced new features to the "DOTA 2" client, easy access to the armory, one-stop shopping and private chat channel.

There have been map changes but it applied to both the Radiant and Dire areas, unlike previously speculated that only the Radiant jungle would have the changes. In addition, patch 6.86 has also added a new arcane rune that spawns in the river, new items and new neutral camp locations.

Thus the lesson here is to treat leaks with caution and always wait for the official patch notes from the game's developers. For those who are not yet on the loop, "DOTA 2" is a free-to-play online game on PC, Mac OS X and Linux (with Steam OS.)
