Carrie Fisher, also known as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, said it only took her 10 minutes to get into her costume.
"I'm older and I do it faster... No really," she said during a press conference held recently together with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams, his co-writer Lawrence Kasdan who was also the writer of the original Star Wars trilogy films, Daisy Ridley who plays Rey in the movie, Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong'o.
"I have a classy, gas station attendant look... So that doesn't take too long to put on," she added, which caused the others around her and the audience to burst into laughter.
"Or I could say I was an airplane mechanic person... well, there's a nice vest over that ... and different hair than most airplane mechanic would normally have ... the end," she said.
Daisy Ridley said it only took her around 20 minutes to get into her costume, and wondered out loud on whether that seemed too long or short. She said it only took long because they had "to put on the wraps and everything."
Adam Driver said it took him an hour and a half to get into his costume in the beginning but later got it down to 20 minutes.
Lupita Nyong'o said she didn't have a costume because she was a motion capture character, "But when I got fitted up, in the beginning, it took us about two and half hours, maybe three. Later we had it down to maybe an hour, an hour-fifteen." J.J. Abrams jokingly added, "Lupita had dots on her teeth, she had dots everywhere, all over the place. Until today, I haven't seen her without dots.
In the new Star Wars installment "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Fisher won't be known as Princess Leia anymore. In this new Star Wars movie, she is known as General Leia.
"She's referred to as General," said Abrams in an article on Entertainment Weekly. "But ... there's a moment in the movie where a character sort of slips and calls her 'Princess.'"
General Leia's appearance has been brief on the four trailers out. It shows her in the middle of a military base, locked in a tight embrace with Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford, looking distraught.
The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" film will be in theaters on December 18.
