'Guitar Hero Live' Gets a New Challenging Mode Called 'Rival Challenges'

These music simulation games just keep getting better and better. Activision is giving "Guitar Hero Live" a big update that is based on what partly the community has been asking for.

According to GameSpot, "Guitar Hero Live" is getting "Rival Challenges." This new one-on-one mode will allows players to compete with another for the highest score. However the songs will not be chosen by any of the players, but rather Activision and the winner will be awarded with a +100 XP and other prizes.

Activision and Jamie Jackson of developer FreeStyle Games has explained the mechanics of "Rival Challenges." in the official Guitar Hero Community Pages. As written, the explanation says that in order to get to the new mode the players needs to be at least level 10. This is so because it is at level 10 where player already has access to Guitar Upgrades in addition to having accumulated Hero Powers. Moreover, it was also stated that "Rival Challenges" happens twice every half-our show, so players need to be ready.

As explained, there is a matchmaking mechanism where the players are match by "relatively close skill level." And wit "Rival Challenges, a player gets to show off the personalization items earned in "Guitar Hero Live" through the player card that displays when the battle starts. Furthermore, the developers have given players the privilege to mark a song "Favorite" for easy playback. Song marked as "Favorites" will display with a "heart" icon.

Jackson has ended to blog saying, "Beyond that, I hope you're gearing up for some much needed holiday rest. We'll have some great holiday-themed shows coming up in GHTV, so keep an eye out for some awesome playable Christmas favourites coming your way."

"Guitar Hero Live" is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and iOS platforms.
