"Star Trek" fans are in for a surprise! The Enterprise is officially back and its trailer promises that "Star Trek Beyond" is nothing like the first two "Star Trek" films.
Based on the trailer, Star Trek fans are to expect an action-packed experience. The "Star Trek Beyond" trailer was filled with chase scenes, explosions and lots of teleportation. It has a different vibe than the first two films where were described by many as dark and brooding. The new Star Trek features an intense plot line of being stuck in an unknown planet for an unknown reason making it more upbeat and exciting. The trailer also features the song "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys.
This change could possibly be the result of Director Justin Lin stepping in for J.J. Abrams who directed the first two films. Lin is known for directing the intense and thrilling "Fast & Furious" movies.
A new character is also to be expected on the third installment. It was previously announced that Idris Elba will play the villain in "Star Trek Beyond" and although he wouldn't say a word about the plot, he did give MTV an idea about his role. He revealed that his character is a completely new character and emphasized that it is a "groundbreaking role."
While there are a lot of changes and newcomers in "Star Trek Beyond" fans will be seeing some familiar faces such as such as Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg and John Choo.
Moreover, the trailer was supposed to be released on December 18 because it was supposed to run before "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." However, thanks to the internet, Star Trek fans were able to see a glimpse of the third installment of the Star Trek reboot earlier than they were supposed to. As a result, Paramount was forced to drop the English version a day after the leaked clip surfaced, December 15.
"Star Trek Beyond" will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
