Another player that is always being dragged in the rumor mill is Carmelo Anthony. It cannot be blamed, for speculations suggest that Melo is in a hurry to achieve a possible NBA title before the window for success may close. At the age 31, it cannot be denied that Anthony is close to the expiration date on his prime.
However, rumors suggest that the possible title run is not to be made with the New York Knicks. Even though the Knicks have acquired the towering presence of the Latvian rookie player, Kristaps Porzingis, their current standing is still far from being considered as a title contender this season.
Though Porzingis has been relatively performing well, the young player might still need some time to develop and mature in the league. And this time concern is what Anthony cannot afford to gamble with. That is why there have been some speculations about Anthony transferring to the Miami Heat, which could be a possible title contender this season. ESPN insider Chad Ford via Yibada opined that;
"Carmelo to the Heat, Robin Lopez to the Kings and a combination headlined by Justise Winslow and Willie Cauley-Stein to the Knicks (with other players included for salary matching)," Ford suggested. "Miami is a place where Anthony might agree to go, the Kings would get a center who adds defense and toughness and the Knicks would get two good prospects that intrigued them before the 2015 draft. While the Knicks would be taking a step back, it would show they were serious about building a great team."
Sports Insider Bill Simmons also stated that via Yibada that, "I don't think Carmelo makes it to February." If indeed such rumor is true, then Melo's gesture of giving out his "blessing" to Kristaps Porzingis to be man in the Knicks somehow hints of his plan to transfer to a contending team. Melo stated on yahoo via sportsworldnews, that "I support him 100 percent. In New York they can run you in the ground with all that attention. I'm there to just let him know that when it's good, it's great."
