After some rumors detailing a possible major upgrade on the display technology of Apple appeared on the Web, it is now being rumored that upgrades is partly being done in a secret Apple Lab. According to some reports, Apple Inc. opened a production laboratory in the northern part of Taiwan. Bloomberg detailed that the secret laboratory is "tucked in a corner of Longtan Science Park, between a forest and the building site for a new biotechnology factory, the structure shows no outward indications of belonging to the world's most valuable company."
Though there were no physical indications suggesting that the said building is now occupied by some Apple engineers, there are still some documents to support the said claim. Despite Kristin Huguet, a spokeswoman for Apple in Cupertino, California, not giving any comments to the issue, Bloomberg managed to get hold of some substantial information confirming the said secret Apple lab. Bloomberg reported that;
"Records from the Hsinchu Science Park management office, which manages the Longtan facility, show Apple moved into the factory in April and that Qualcomm Panel Manufacturing Ltd. had occupied the site from 2008. Records from the economics ministry show Apple last amended its Taiwan registration in October. The form now shows the Longtan address, changed from an earlier listing in downtown Taipei, as the headquarters of Taiwan Apple LLC."
The secret lab of Apple in Taiwan could somehow be interpreted as the company's answer to the consumers' demands. The aim of Apple to produce much thinner, lighter, brighter and more energy-efficient devices could possibly be the reason behind the secret laboratory of one of the world's leading tech company.
By having such lab, possibilities of Apple decreasing their outsourced material needs such as the ones coming from suppliers like Samsung Electronics Co., LG Display Co., Sharp Corp. and Japan Display Inc could be actualized. Guess we would just have to wait for some official statement from Apple Inc. regarding the secret lab and wait for the output of the said laboratory.
