After revealing that "Thor: Ragnarok" will have a female villain, numerous names of famous actresses were added on the list that will play the role. Recently, Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett was said to be in negotiations to join the cast.
According to KDrama Stars, Marvel Studios is n talks with Blanchett to be part of the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok." However, there is still no news on what the award-winning actress' role will be in the movie. It was earlier reported that Marvel is currently looking for an actress who can play "bad-ass female" roles for the movie, which is why some sources speculated that Blanchett might play the role of female superheroine Valkyrie.
Valkyrie is known to be an Asgardian warrior who was chosen by King Oden himself to lead an all-female warrior team. In the comic books, she is known to be a member of the Defenders and also of the Avengers. However, according to Venture Capital Post, some sources think that there are also a couple of possible other characters that Blanchett can play in the movie like the female villain Queen Hela, who in the comic books is the daughter of Loki. Blanchett could also play another possible female villain in the character of Amora, who is also known as The Enchantress.
As of writing, Marvel has yet to comment on the rumors on the new female characters that will be featured in the movie. Meanwhile, other characters have been already confirmed to come back, including Chris Hemsworth who will be reprising his role as the god of thunder, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif. "Avengers" star Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk has also been confirmed to appear in the film.
"Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled to be released on Nov. 3, 2017.
