Magglio Ordóñez, the retired MLB outfielder, has reportedly listed his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., home for $4.39 million.
The Realtor Blog broke news of the listing noting that Gisele Bonetti of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate is marketing the residence.
Property records show that Ordóñez bought the home for $4.4 million late in 2004 just before he was signed on as free agent with the Detroit Tigers for a record $85 million contract.
But isn't Ordóñez's asking price lower than what he paid for it in 2004? Yes, but he doesn't mind.
"They're just happy with what the market has done over the last year or two," Bonetti told the Sun Sentinel.
"The luxury home market, within the $3 million to $5 million range, has been very strong this last quarter," Bonetti told The Real Deal adding:
"This new listing further strengthens the marketplace and relationships with my Major League Baseball clientele."
The property in question here is an 8,115-square-foot single-family house, comprising of six bedrooms and seven and a half bathrooms.
Dagly Ordóñez, Magglio's wife, told the Sun Sentinel that the interior of the home is what makes the home so special.
"The large, spacious room and the fine details of the home are what stand out, like the hand-carved wooden railings and moldings, custom buildouts and wall finishes," she explained.
Living spaces of the home include a family room, formal living and dining areas and a gourmet kitchen with the most modern fixtures.
There is a spa and an office. The master suite hosts a huge en-suite bathroom and the guest bedrooms are also quite spacious. While there is an elevator that can ferry you across the floors, the home also has a splendid wrought-iron-ailing staircase.
Outside, the house has a "summer kitchen," a spa, a pool and a three-car garage. The home also has a dock that can accommodate a "80-foot-long yacht".
