In the words of Queen Beyonce, girls run the world. It is for the new Ghostbuster movie where the leading roles are replaced by the toughest, fiercest, and funniest women in Hollywood.
According to Daily Mail, promotional images was released by Planet Ghostbusters about the upcoming film that features the four female leads, Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzman, Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates, and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan.
The gang is complete with the ever popular proton packs, the vacuum-looking gun, and their Ghostbuster car, the Ecto-1 station wagon.
The film will be released in July 2016 and some of the Hollywood’s finest will be included in the film. Mr. Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, will be playing a secretary. Andy Garcia (Ocean’s Eleven, The Untouchables) will play the Mayor of New York City. Michael K. Williams (The Purge: Anarchy, 12 Years A Slave) will play “Hawkins”. Matt Walsh (Into The Storm, The Hangover) is “Rourke.” The villain will be played by Saturday Night Live’s, Neil Casey.
The reboot will be directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids). He told Coming Soon, “I’m having a lot of fun playing with genres. I love the original film, but I also just love the idea of busting ghosts and kind of paranormal warriors. 'I thought: "You know, if I could do this with the funny women I know and kind of just do a new origin story. I’m more interested in what would happen today. You know, you see things on TV about ghosts, but none of it’s real. What if, suddenly, something started happening? What happens when that just begins to happen to people? Also, how do they develop their technology? It’s not as fun if they’re just handed their proton packs. It’s why it’s not as fun to do a sequel. The fun is getting there.”
Back in July, Feig tweeted a teaser picture of the four cast members for the first time in full costume, captioning the image “#whoyougonnacall“ -- which is the famous tagline from the movie, as well as it’s notable theme song.
