Maksim Chmerkovskiy left no stone unturned when he purchased an engagement ring for fiancée Peta Murgatroyd.
Chmerkovskiy and his bride-to-be have graced the cover of the current issue of People magazine. The former "Dancing With The Stars" pro, said to People, "You shouldn't have your mom pick it out because she has better taste than you. It should be something special and that you're proud of. If you have the ability to make it personal, you should make it personal."
It took five weeks to complete the ring. He used Skype to communicate with Italian craftsmen in Cantamesa, a company he is also working for. He says, "It was a very quick process because I knew exactly what I wanted. I was skyping with these Italian guys all arguing amongst themselves about how the ring should be made and then I would give my thoughts. What came out of it was brilliant."
He had to get her size using a string while she was sleeping. When Peta put it on came Dec. 5, the sneaking around and the effort were all worth it. She's over the moon with it. The ring features emerald cut diamonds surrounded by even more sparkling diamonds.
She gushed, "I'm obsessed with it. "It's so classy and so elegant. I don't know how he knew I wanted that Eiffel Tower look that is quite high. It's the most beautiful thing ever."
The duo's story has not always been this romantic and it was definitely love at first sight. In fact, she thought he was arrogant. But they became friends and such friendship grew and grew, People continues. They were both dating when they met at "Dancing With The Stars" but as fate would have it, they started dating only to break up because it was going nowhere.
After three months, although they were both involved with someone else during their break, they reconciled...and it becomes the beginning of their happy story.
He added, "She's my best friend. She makes me a better man."
