Graham Elliot Done With MasterChef and MasterChef Junior

One of the pillars of "MasterChef" and its spin-off "MasterChef Junior" is moving on from the show. Graham Elliot, an original judge of Fox's cooking competition reality series since its 2010 debut in the U.S., has announced his imminent departure from the two shows.

"MasterChef" is based on the U.K. version of the reality cooking competition open to both amateur and home chefs.

Elliot said in a statement, "It has been an awesome experience to be part of the 'MasterChef' family. I learned so much from the people I got to work with and it has been a true honor to share my love of cooking with the audiences who have allowed me into their homes over the last six years."

According to TV Line, the restaurateur will just finish "MasterChef Junior" Season 4, which airs every Friday. The producers are expected to announce a new judge in 2016 in time for "MasterChef" Season 7.

While the chef is done with the "MasterChef" franchise, at least for now, he teases fans on something to look forward to. He said, "I remain committed to using my passion for cooking as a way to entertain and teach people of all ages, and will be making some exciting announcements about the next steps of that journey in the new year."

Last year, founding judge Joe Bastianich, a restaurateur and winemaker, announced his exit and he was replaced by chef Christina Tosi.

Fox has recently announced "MasterChef Celebrity Showdown," a two-hour special which will air on Jan. 8, 2016. It will be hosted by the remaining pioneer judge Gordon Ramsay, together with Christina Rosi. Back in August, Elliot has signed a two-year deal with Fox. Deadline said that the "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares" star is now considered as the network's most valuable reality brand.
