Actress and mother of six, Angelina Jolie, has a lot to love about being in a menopausal stage rather than dread about it.
Early March of this year, Jolie revealed to the public that she underwent a surgery to remove her fallopian tubes and ovaries. The purpose of the operation was to reduce her chances of getting ovarian cancer following the death of her mother Marcheline Bertrand, due to the same illness. This procedure forces Jolie to face an early menopausal but she gladly expresses the opposite in an interview with Australia's Daily Telegraph, saying, "I actually love being in menopause." She added, "I haven't had a terrible reaction to it, so I'm very fortunate."
The 44-year-old actress has been known to be very vocal to the public about her health choices and how she has always been proactive about it. In 2013, she underwent double mastectomy (another surgery that lessens her chances of getting breast cancer, that is, from 87 percent down to 5 percent).
She added that she felt more settled now that she's older and mature. "I feel happy that I've grown up. I don't want to be young again," she explains.
For Jolie, her decision was without regrets. "I know my children will never have to say, 'Mom died of ovarian cancer." On being asked by the choices she has made regarding his physical body and how this would impact her family, she explained, "I feel feminine, and grounded in the choices I am making for myself and my family."
Jolie also spoke about how her decision affected her relationship with her husband Brad Pitt.
"Brad made it very, very clear to me that what he loved and what was a woman to him was somebody who was smart and capable, someone who cared about her family, that it's not about your physical body," she said.
