Indie game "Undertale" has emerged to become 2015's best game ever made.
The RPG made by independent developer Toby Fox and released in September 2015 has been recognized in the poll conducted by GameFAQs as "Best.Game.Ever." Other game titles that appeared in the poll, as voted by fans, are very familiar classics like "Final Fantasy X," "Kingdom Hearts II," "Half-Life," "Super Mario Bros," and "Skyrim" just to name a few.
According to Kotaku, the poll has 128 game entries and every day, the polls are updated with four posts matching two games against each other one-on-one. The total votes, move the game to the next division.
"Final Fantasy VII" was declared as the winner in 2014. In 2009, the title was awarded to "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time."
GameFAQs explained how the poll actually went. According to GameFAQs, "The games have been seeded by a combination of user nominations, popularity on GameFAQs, and critical and user game ratings, but don't forget: This is not a contest to see which game is your favorite, or even which one is the best rated. It's all a big popularity contest, and visitors who have never visited GameFAQs before will be sure to stop in and vote."
Kotaku reported that GameFAQs honestly told video game fans that the poll conducted was all about popularity without any regards to any other criteria or mechanics, just plain popularity. And the poll could not be farther from the truth. "Undertale" indeed is a popular title as it appears in Steam's list of Top Sellers. In Steam, the game is listed as "The RPG game where you don't have to destroy anyone." And user reviews show the game is "Overwhelmingly Positive"
"Undertale" is available on Windows PC and OS X.
