"Once Upon a Time" (OUAT) fans will see a grown-up Dorothy in the future as TV actress Teri Reeves is set to join the ABC series.
According to TV Line, the "Chicago Fire" actress will appear in the OZ version of OUAT as the adult version of Dorothy Gale from Kansas. This time, the character will be seen as growing up as a “brave warrior for good.”
Reeves will then continue the role left by Matreya Scarrwener who previously played the 17-year-old Dorothy. Scarrwener appeared in Season 3, Episode 20 "Kansas" on May 4, 2014.
In her upcoming comeback, Reeves' Dorothy will now start making new acquaintances which will also lead to "unlocking a strength she has never had before." Her casting was previously hinted by TV Line. The outlet described the new Dorothy as “the iconic, pig-tailed girl from Kansas” who eventually grew up in her late 20s to early 30s.
The OZ storyline will continue with Dorothy's mission on reclaiming her city from Zelena or the Wicked Witch from the West (Rebecca Mader). Zelena was previously axed from Regina's (Lana Parrilla) villainous roster in the OUAT Season 5 Episode 11 titled "Swan Song." It aired last Dec. 6.
Both Dorothy and the Wicked Witch from the West are based from the 1900 children's novel entitled "The Wonderful World of OZ" from American author, L. Frank Baum.
Reeves was seen in few movies including "Deadline" in 2011, "Tentacle" and "10 Year Plan" in 2014. The TV actress had few regular roles in "NCIS," "Battlegrounds." She recently appeared as Hallie Tomas in "Chicago Fire," Kate in "Scandal" and Miranda Vall in "Castle."
Reeves will make her debut as OUAT's adult Dorothy in Season 5, Episode 16. It is slated to air in April.
"Once Upon a Time" will return for the second half of Season 5 on Mar. 6, 2016. The episode will be entitled as "Souls of the Departed," which is written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.
"Once Upon a Time" returns next year on ABC.
