Miss World 2015 has just been concluded and the crown was given to none other than the fabulous Miss Spain.
The new reigning Miss World, Mireia Lalaguna Royo of Spain, is a 23-year-old model from Barcelona who won the international pageant in which 114 women competed and represented their own countries. She also holds a degree in Pharmacology and is seeking a masteral degree in Nutrition. According to her Miss World bio posted on their website, “Mireia says that music and travelling are the pillars of her happiness. A skilled pianist she studied up to grade 8 in Musical Language, Harmony and Piano at the Conservatory of the Lyceum of Barcelona, and she has travelled extensively over Europe and the Far East. In her spare time Mireia likes to run, to read and to go skiing in the winter.”
Royo said after she won the competition, "Just because I am beautiful on the outside does not mean I am not beautiful on the inside. I think I should be the next Miss World because I believe in strong women, I also think I have something inside my heart that I always try to give the best of me. I also believe in Beauty With A Purpose and want to continue its legacy. We can find happiness in helping each other,” which was reported by the Telegraph.
According to E! Online, Miss Russia, Sofia Nikitchuk, 22, placed second, while Miss Indonesia, Maria Harfanti, 23, came in third place. Miss Jamaica, Sanneta Myrie, 24, and Miss Lebanon, Valerie Abou Chacran, 23, are also included in the top five finalists.
The top ten finalists includes Hinarere Taputu, 25, from France; Hillarie Parungao, 24, from the Philippines; Tess Alexander, 24, from Australia; Trần Ngọc Lan Khuê, 23, from Vietnam; Lisa Punch, 23, from Guyana; and Liesl Laurie, 24, from South Africa.
Miss World 2014, Rolene Strauss of South Africa passed on the crown to the winner wearing a gorgeous red gown.
This is the first win for Spain in the Miss World pageant.
