"Final Fantasy XV" is now officially on pre-beta stage, Gaming Bolt has reported. The title's development is moving as planned and it is already playable on PlayStation 4 and PC. The game's programmer Satoshi Kitade has written in forums that the current build already runs on Windows PC and that it also works on PS4 although it is still to be refined for optimization and memory-related adjustments.
Square Enix is preparing to launch the game in 2016 as it is already playable from start to finish and just in need of polishing. Square Enix reportedly has conducted a survey that seemed like the company is gauging fans' attitude towards "Final Fantasy XV" and Atlus' "Persona 5." The latter is said to be releasing in spring 2016 and that one survey question made fans think Square Enix might release the "Final Fantasy XV" in the same release window. Others, though, believe that the survey was more of an aid for Square Enix to see if it was best to avoid releasing "Final Fantasy XV" at the time Atlus is also releasing "Persona 5." More details might be revealed surely when Square Enix resumes Final Fantasy's Active Time Report in January.
In addition, according to Dual Shockers, programmer Kitade has explained why developers have to make trade-offs when tweaking game elements especially that memory is one big consideration as it defines game limitations on platforms. Director Hajime Tabata has told Dual Shockers that the company is considering a PC version for "Final Fantasy XV" post-launch, but Kitade has noted that even if the game can run on PC, it does not guarantee that a PC version will be released.
"Final Fantasy XV" is being developed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Official released date of the game is yet to be announced.
