Things do not seem to go pretty well for Robert De Niro's latest hotel venture, the Nobu Hotel Manila. Luxury Listings NYC reported that Nobu Hotel Manila which was organized along with Chef Matsuhisa Nobu was voted as 2015's worst new luxury hotel.
Luxury Travel Intelligence, a prestigious members-only high-end rating company, gave the review about De Niro's hotel. According to Fortune.com, the reviewers will travel anonymously and they pay in full rates to make sure those hotels, spas and nightlife locations are well rated.
The company's co-founder, Michael Crompton, said that "Nobu Hotel Manila was a great disappointment," and that other members also gave bad feedback about the hotel's services.
The hotel is reportedly beautiful and well-equipped with 321 rooms, however, it has a big problem with its services. Crompton explained that the "accommodations are, in the main, impressive, it seems to be suffering from poor management."
The hotel rate begins at $164 and go up to $400 for a Nobu suite wherein you will be able to get good city views. Crompton added that since affluent customers are the ones staying in the luxury hotel, then they expect to have the best services and unique experience. However, that is not what they get in the hotel.
One guest said that it is okay to stay in Nobu Hotel if you are up for leisure travel and the casino. However, "it is not at all appropriate for business-minded travelers or high-ranking VIPs who have much better options when in Manila."
Meanwhile, Crompton also mentioned that Nobu restaurants were reviewed by his company. But then they are worried that the "Nobu brand maybe overextending itself."
He pointed that out that Nobu's move into the hotel venture is questionable and said that, "Nobu has always been about exclusivity and luxury."
Crompton explained further, "Now, new Nobu restaurants tend to be much larger operations and the hotels, so far, seem so far removed from exclusive."
Nobu Hotel Manila was reached out for a comment regarding its low rating, but they refused to give any.
